Ship owners concerned about price, quality and delivery rely on TIG marine to keep their vessels running in optimal fashion.

Whether the requirement is routine maintenance, component reconditioning, recovery from a catastrophic casualty or a retrofit solution for environmental compliance, TIG marine will respond anywhere in the globe with highly qualified teams to deliver a cost-effective solution to minimize downtime.

Diesel/Dual Fuel Engine Service

Riding Crews – TIG marine capabilities as an expert in comprehensive engine services are unquestioned. With 8 decades as an engine specialist, TIG marine capabilities cover virtually all makes and models of larger bore 4 stroke and 2 stroke engines found in the marine market. TIG marine engine service model is based on deploying highly trained teams or riding crews to effect the engine repair either alongside or on voyage to minimize the impact on schedules. Our teams travel will all tools required to overhaul components onboard negating the requirement to send components ashore.

Swing Set Model – To maximize efficiency and minimize downtime associated with overhauls, TIG marine has implemented a “swing set” approach with certain operators. With this alternate approach to onboard overhaul, the owner secures an extra set of components that can be fully overhauled in TIG marine’ workshop between overhauls and delivered onboard for the next scheduled maintenance. This limits onboard attendance, shortens overhaul/downtime periods and controls costs.

Major Casualties – Beyond routine maintenance, TIG marine is known for its ability to restore engines from catastrophic casualties. Crankshaft, block and bedplate replacements are routine repair operations for TIG marine and are done in the safest, most professional manner in the market. Through our global network of stations and suppliers, TIG marine is very often able to offer fully inspected, class approved, reconditioned components at a significantly lower price than the cost of a new and usually faster than can be delivered from the OEM.

Marine Engine Control Systems

As fleets age, various engine related control modules become less reliable, where failures compromise safety and cause general deterioration of ships automation capabilities. Often these control modules are also from different suppliers and when they fail, support is not always available and can cause delays and be expensive. TIG marine is a specialist in designing fully integrated upgrades for all control modules including engine automation, governors, safety systems, power management, excitation and generator protection. By standardizing on control modules from our principles, we are able to reduce the number of modules, minimize suppliers, improve integration and provide common fleet solutions. An upgrade allows older vessels to operate as if they were new with improved automatic operation, monitoring and diagnostic systems. With TIG marine and our principles’ presence, worldwide support is never far away.

We can provide any of the below system upgrades as turnkey solutions:

  • Mechanical and Electronic Governor systems
  • Engine Control, Monitoring and Alarm Systems
  • Engine Safety Systems
  • Real Time Combustion Monitoring Systems
  • Power management, Generator Protection and Excitation Systems
  • Fleet Remote Access
